*Aniline leather refers to a type of leather dyed with soluble dyes that showcase the hide’s natural surface, as opposed to dyes that form an insoluble sealant or a topcoat paint. It is a living leather that breathes and absorbs humidity and will naturally weather and change in appearance over time as it ages. Because any visible pores, scars, or other blemishes and variations on the surface of the leather remain visible with this type of tanning, only the highest quality leather is suitable for a full Aniline finish.
